"Never doubt that a few committed people can change the world
In fact this is the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead

The five-month union of a Cuban boy and his Miami family ended Saturday -- after armed federal agents smashed their way into the American family's Miami home, teargassed
the occupants and grabbed 6-year-old
Elian Gonzalez by force at machinegunpoint.

The violent raid at Elian's Miami home on
Saturday April 22nd at approx. 5:30 am
-- dubbed Operation Reunion --
sparked widespread protests around the world, and prompted massive
celebration in Cuba

Fake picture released to news media by Elian's father, Juan Miguel Gonzalez. This picture was reported to have snapped a few hours after Elian was taken by force.

Why fake picture?

In the pictures of the scenes at the Miami home where Elian was removed by force,    you can see that his hair on the side of his head was shaved short... in this picture he
miraculously has grown alot of  hair....and besides... why is picture quality so bad?? Answer: to hide photo-masking flaws...

Marisleysis Gonzales disputes
authenticity of Elian reunion photo

A distraught Marisleysis Gonzalez on Sunday disputed the authenticity of a photograph that shows a smiling Elian Gonzalez after he was reunited with his father on Sat. April22, 2000.

"That picture that they showed with the father, that is not Elian. That hair is not Elian's," the boy's cousin said during a news conference in Washington, shown live on American television. "This is not Elian smiling."

Lazaro Gonzalez

Lazaro Gonzalez, Elian's paternal
great-uncle, was given temporary custody
of the boy by a Florida court. Elian has
been living at his home in Miami's Little Havana and attending a private school
since shortly after his rescue. Lazaro has begun legal action to let the boy stay in the United States permanently.

Marisleysis Gonzalez

Marisleysis Gonzalez, Elian's second
cousin, is among the Miami relatives
working to keep the boy in the United
States. At one point, she made a public
appeal to First Lady Hillary Clinton to get involved in the case. Sister Jeanne
O'Laughlin, who hosted Elian's meeting
with his grandmothers, wrote in The New York Times that she believed Elian had bonded with Marisleysis.

Elian Gonzalez

Elian Gonzalez is a Cuban boy who has been at the center of an international custody battle since he was found lashed to an inner tube
in the ocean off Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Thanksgiving Day 1999. Elian, who turned 6 in December, was one of three survivors from a
boat that capsized during an attempt by a group of Cubans to reach
N. America. Elian's mother, Elisabeth Brotons, and 10 others died.
